Madrona Teams Made Possible by Volunteer Support
- Art Walk and Auction (May)
- Annual event that showcases student art with silent auctions of donated art, fun activities for the kids, and food trucks for the whole family!
- Volunteer needs – setup, break down, donation organizing, silent auction coordinator, short shirts at kid activities, promotion
- Bear Scare (October)
- School-wide evening family event held on a Friday evening at the end of October. Carnival-style games, cupcake walk, pumpkin carving contest, haunted house, and lots of great costumes.
- Volunteer needs – short shifts at the many stations as well as set up and break down
- Book Fair (May)
- Book fair typically happens once a year. Proceeds support the Madrona library.
- Volunteer needs – cashiering in shifts before and after school and on family night, promotion
- Enrichment Classes (All Year)
- Activities and classes from art to Japanese culture, chess to ASL are offered after school
- Volunteer needs – standing committee members, class hosts, instructors, promotion
- Equity Team (All Year)
- Team that meets monthly led by our principal ensuring equality in our school and at all school events.
- Volunteer needs – members to read event forms for equitability and meet monthly to discuss items going on at school
- Fun Run (September)
- School-wide event held early in the school year during the school day. Centers compete for most spirited which entails color coordinating outfits, face painting, streamers…. Students run/walk to beat their personal record for number of laps in 45 minutes.
- Volunteer needs – set up, cheering, break down, counting laps, writing out certificates.
- Garden Club (All Year)
- Club that helps keep our Madrona grounds beautiful! They do everything from weeding, to planting, to mulching.
- Volunteer needs – team lead, organize planting and weeding days, members to weed, plant, and mulch, promotion
- Giving Tree (December)
- Annual event where clothing and toys are gathered for our Madrona families in need.
- Volunteer needs – Team leads and organizers, donation organizers, promotion
- Grant Readers (All Year)
- Three times a year we read and score grant proposals from students, teachers, staff, and parents.
- Volunteer needs – readers for grants in October, January, and April
- Green Team (All Year)
- One of only five certified Washington Green Schools in the district due to lunchroom waste reduction program (composting).
- Volunteer needs – standing committee, lunch room supervision
- Joe Rice Scholarship (Spring)
- MIT honors one high school Madrona alumni graduate with a $2000 scholarship each year
- Volunteer needs – one afternoon reading and scoring entries for scholarship
- Madrona Children’s Theatre (Dec-Mar)
- Madrona’s own theater program. Usually announced in October with auditions beginning in December and rehearsals starting in January. Performances at the end of March.
- Volunteer needs – producers, chaperones, food servers, food donation organizer, volunteer organizer, bake sale organizers, donation outreach and organizer, costume creator and helpers, back stage help, technology help, social media organizer and team members, program creator, promotion
- Madrona Kids Fund (October)
- MIT’s annual fundraiser. This is our big push to raise the money we need to provide the funds to support the school and MIT events.
- Volunteer needs – team leads, donation recording, promotion
- Monster Mad Dash 5K Fun Run (October)
- Annual event in October to wear your favorite costume, and run, walk or wag across the finish line that benefits the Foundations for Edmonds School District
- Volunteer needs – team leads and organizers, promotion
- STEAM Night (March)
- Annual school-wide STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) event
- Volunteer needs – setting up, staffing activity tables, breaking down, science education expertise, promotion.
- Talent Show (Spring)
- This evening events held in spring, every other year, provides an opportunity for Madrona students to showcase their talents.
