Fundraising is extremely important to Madrona and MIT’s ability to provide critical services and support for students and teachers. Without fundraising, none of the events listed on this website would exist. Nor would core resources like our MIT scholarship program or teacher supply funds be possible.

MIT is a Washington State not-for-profit corporation, recognized under federal tax code 501c3. It is a non-profit so that we can solicit grant money and charitable donations. People who give money to MIT can write their donations off, and they can request matching donations from their employers via company matching programs.

Our Fundraisers

The majority of our funding comes from our single large active fundraising push a year known as Madrona Kids Fund. There are smaller, more passive types of fundraising such as Bear Wear, Community Nights, and Store Give Backs that are done throughout the year.

Madrona Kids Fund (MKF)

Our large active fundraising push that happens once a year in October. This supplies nearly our entire budget for the year.

Bear Wear

We sell Bear Wear two to three times a year. This gives you an opportunity to purchase t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and other clothing items with our school logos on them.

Box Tops & Store Give Backs

These are easy, passive ways of fundraising. Most of them are a one-time setup.

Madrona Community Nights

Madrona Community Nights happen throughout the year. Usually they are in the form of buying food on a specific night with a code that gives a percentage of sales back to the MIT community. We also, on occasion, do events like bowl and skate nights, baseball or soccer games, or swimming nights where anyone is welcome to come and hang out with their friends while a percentage of the ticket sales goes back to the MIT community.

Company Matching

Many organizations will match funds when you donate to a charitable organization. MIT is registered as a 501c3 non-profit organization and is therefore eligible for many company matching programs. When you are choosing the charitable organization make sure to choose Madrona school in Edmonds (also referred to as Madrona Integrated Teams in some programs), WA because there are other Madrona schools. If you need more information about company matching, please contact your workplace’s HR or Benefits department.
