What is Bear Scare?
Madrona’s spook-tacular fall celebration, Bear Scare, is the one party that EVERYONE puts on their calendar each year. Featuring games, music, pizza, a Haunted House, Pumpkin-Carving Contest, candy crafts, cookie decorating, and fun activities for Madrona bears of all ages — not to mention hundreds of your fellow students decked out in the coolest costumes around — it’s Madrona’s biggest party of the year!
100% of the Bear Scare proceeds go right back into our students through MIT programs.
When is Bear Scare?
Bear Scare is the last Friday in October closest to Halloween.
Who can attend Bear Scare?
Bear Scare is a community event. Everyone is welcome! Invite your neighbors, extended family & co-workers!
How much is Bear Scare?
- Wrist bands (kids only, adults are free) $10
- Whole pre-order pizza $17
- Slice & drink pre-order $5
- Whole pizza at the door $21
- Pizza by the slice at event $5
- Scholarships for entry available (Madrona students)
How can I help at Bear Scare?
Bear Scare uses more than 100 volunteers to make the event a success. We put out a new sign-up genius every year asking for volunteers to fill 30 minute slots. Here are the positions we need filled.
- Before the event
- Team lead(s) and organizer
- Donation organizer
- Games organizer
- Ticket seller
- Pizza coordinator
- Costume contest coordinator
- pumpkin carving contest coordinator
- Promotion
- Day of event
- Setup (1 hr slots starting at noon)
- Games tables (30 minute slots)
- Ticket taker and seller (30 minute slots)
- Pizza servers (30 minute slots)
- Candy runners (30 minute slots)
We also need many bags of candy and small toys to use for prizes donated.
