Exciting news about this year’s MCT production next Spring…. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, The Cat in the Hat narrates the story of an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza! LOTS of fun larger than life characters for you to audition for!
MCT is open to all those in 4th-8th grade. Auditions will be at the very end of January following a parent meeting where you will receive ALL the information you could wish for and more! For children to audition and participate in the show we REQUIRE attendance at the meeting (EVEN if you are a returning family). If you cannot make it, please send a proxy to pick up your info for your family and sign to say you attended.
We are only able to run one cast this year and show dates are St Patrick’s Day weekend. IF you are unable to be at the show, PLEASE do not audition!
Rehearsals will be after school Mon-Fri for the month of February and the first 3 weeks in March. While it is unlikely cast members will need to attend every night, it is possible and we will be sending home rehearsal schedules weekly. With this in mind please make sure you have no prior commitments or other activities planned for these few weeks. Because we have such a short time to rehearse we need cast members to be totally committed to the show.
We understand that not everyone has the ability to free up an entire month. While this makes us sad to potentially lose cast members we hope they will consider joining us as stage crew when we move to the theater in March, or to support their friends by attending a show!
Unfortunately, we were unable to offer the full MCT experience this year with covid affecting things so much the last few years. But rest assured the plan is to return to the normal way of things next year.
