It’s MIT Election time! We have four candidates for four positions. Here are brief statements from each:
Molly Tobias, Parent Chair: Hello! My name is Molly Tobias. I have two boys in the NOW Center. We are going on our 7th year at Madrona. I have been on the MIT Board for five years. I started in the recorder position, moved to vice-chair and then to parent chair. I am now running for the full two year term of parent chair.
I am looking forward to continuing to connect with Madrona families and collaborating with staff to support our students every way possible. I’ve enjoyed learning about the behind-the-scenes part of Madrona and MIT. I appreciate the opportunity to play an active part in my (and your!) children’s education.
Remy Guiterrez, Treasurer: My name is Remy Gutierrez, my children are Lilly (El Mundo) and Eliana (Ohana). I’m submitting my name for treasurer. My schedule makes it difficult for me to volunteer in class with my kids and I feel this would be a good way to contribute to the Madrona community. I have worked at Boeing for almost 15 years with various roles of managing budgets and outside of work I have done the finances (payroll, taxes and general bookkeeping) for a local bike shop. In addition to these I’ve decided to pursue a Masters in Finance to expand my understanding of finances in the commercial world.
Nasanzuu Duncombe, Vice Treasurer: My name is Nasanzuu and our family is new to Madrona this year. I have twins in Ohana center and a kindergartner in Ms.Rust’s class. Previously, I served as a volunteer treasurer for my son’s coop preschool and I hope to be an useful addition in MIT as your new vice treasurer.
Erica Ballou, Recorder: Hello, my name is Erica Ballou and I am a 3rd time Madrona parent. My two older kids moved on, but I have been involved with Madrona since 2008. I’ve been a chaperone many times, but I have always wanted to be more involved with the school and being a recorder would be a wonderful way to give back and help out.
My daughter Charlee is in Ohana Center now, but is moving to Intermediate, so I am not sure what center I will soon belong to… I am currently working part time at Swedish Edmonds hospital, so I have many opportunities to come in and record the MIT minutes with my flexible schedule. I have a BS in biology and am very used to creating documentation, so I believe I would be a great addition to the MIT board.
