Email Submission

We are working to streamline the communication from MIT.  If you have an article you’d like to have included in our weekly email, please email your blurb to Molly at MITParentChair@gmail.com by Saturday at noon to be included in the following week’s email.  If you’d like the article to be included for multiple weeks (for example, a signup genius for volunteer opportunities) please include that information.  We are working to update the website to make submissions for the weekly email an option.  Thanks.

Volunteer Paperwork

Have you filled out your volunteer paperwork yet?  All volunteers must be cleared by Edmonds School District before volunteering in any capacity at Madrona.  It a quick process, but please allow up to two weeks for notification from the district about clearance.  All volunteers must have either an ID badge or sticker from the office visible while on campus.  Paperwork can be found here: Volunteer – Edmonds School District (wednet.edu)  Unsure if you’re volunteer status is still good?  Please contact the Educational Services Center communications@edmonds.wednet.edu

MIT Meeting Stress & Anxiety 101 presentation

Please join us on Monday, October 9th at 6:30 at the monthly MIT meeting for a 20-minute presentation on Stress and Anxiety in Children. Amanda Odell, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with extensive experience within behavioral health systems, will facilitate a conversation around Stress and Anxiety in Children.  She will discuss how to identify stress; will share practical tools for kids, parents, and staff to support children; will help identify when stress turns into anxiety; and will offer and explore various additional supports.  Amanda is known to create psychologically safe environments where people feel heard, and she can effectively explain concepts to others in a positive and engaging way to serve our communities. This info night is free thanks to Edmonds School District’s partnership with the Center for Human Services and the Verdant Health Commission. School psychologist, Alex Lewis and school counselor, Jennifer Luce, will also be present to answer questions.  Childcare is provided by Middle School Students.

Conference Week Enrichment

Floorball Enrichment Camp is coming to Madrona from 12:30-4pm, October 23-27 for grades K-6.  Each day is a separate camp so sign up for one day or more.  Look for a flyer coming home this week and another email with signup details.  All equipment will be provided.  See how the game is played by following emerald_city_floorball on Instagram.

NO ice, No skates? no problem. Floorball, modern floor hockey is the next great youth sport. And it is coming to Madrona for Parent Teacher Conference week. Emerald City Floorball is making hockey for everyone with our low barrier to entry. Floorball is fun, fast, safe, affordable and inclusive, making it a popular sport for kids and parents alike. Join us as we bring our over 70 years of combined off-ice hockey experience to give you a program you will love and be asking for more when we finish. Kids will learn the basics of hockey, learning how to play with and without the ball, learning valuable skills such as teamwork, competitiveness and communication. All resulting from our fun curriculum and our high-energy scrimmages. So have some fun with us this year during Parent Teacher Conference week. Emerald City Floorball, making hockey kewl in school again.
