Madrona Integrated Team is proud to bring exciting opportunities for the students to have experiences not offered in the school curriculum. Classes can be taught by outside contractors, teachers, parents and even students.

Spring 2025 Enrichment Class Registration Opens March 24th at 8am

Paper flyers will be sent home with students the week of March 17th, and registration opens through 6Crickets.com on Monday, March 24th at 8:00 AM. Classes will begin the week of April 21st.
Volunteer Opportunity:
We’re looking for adult volunteers to help with most of the classes. If you’re interested in volunteering, you’ll have the opportunity to register your student for all their enrichment classes early! Click here for more volunteer information.
Financial Assistance Available:
MIT scholarships are available for qualifying families. Please contact Kelly in the office for more details BEFORE registration opens.

Spring 2025 Enrichment Class Descriptions:
Art – Grades 1-6
This Drawing and Painting class will allow students to continue to build on their drawing skills and dive deeper into painting. This class is designed to help advance your artists’ drawing methods at any age. We will also be learning various painting techniques to challenge different skill levels. We hope you will join us as we dive into acrylic paints, watercolor, drawing, mixed media and more. 10% Sibling Discount

Hooray! It’s spring! Let’s get started in crochet by making bunnies and chicks!
We will provide everything you need. Students make some very cute projects and have plenty of time to learn and practice the basics of crochet.

Crochet Intermediate – Grades 3-8
In this class students can choose or bring their own projects and work independently. We will give instruction in new skills and provide supplies and patterns as needed. Previous projects include amigurumi animals and food, granny squares, hats and mittens.
This class is for students who are already familiar with the basics of crochet and are able at a minimum to independently do single crochet and chain stitches. If your student has not already taken one of our classes, please have them check in with Felix or Andrea to show us their skills before signing up for this class.

Japanese: Situational Phrases – Grades 7-8 (Tuesdays or Wednesdays)
Join us for an exciting after-school Japanese language class where students will learn essential vocabulary, grammar, and cultural traditions through interactive lessons and fun activities! Learn the fundamentals of Japanese while engaging in practical conversations and cultural experiences. Students from last quarter’s Japanese class will expand on their learning to prepare for the 2025 summer trip, and new students are welcome as well.
Schedule:
- Week 1: Learn how to tell time, talk about the calendar, say your birthday, and name common classroom objects.
- Week 2: Explore food-related vocabulary and practice asking and answering questions about meals. Get introduced to basic verb conjugations.
- Week 3: Celebrate Children’s Day (こどもの日 / Kodomo no Hi) with cultural activities and language practice.
- Week 4: Learn words and phrases related to daily routines and activities.
- Week 5: Master shopping phrases such as “I want to buy these shoes” and express emotions using new vocabulary.
- Week 6: Describe people and objects by learning adjectives and characteristics.
- Week 7: Talk about hobbies and interests while practicing conversational skills.
- Week 8: Wrap up the course with an interactive Japanese language game to reinforce everything learned!

Jazz Club – Grades 5-8
Interested in learning how to play jazz? This club is for you! We’ll cover the basics of the blues, jazz style, articulation, and even start to improvise solos.

Superheroes STEAM with Snapology
To the Batcave, superhero fans! Design your own superhero, create your own adventure, and build epic battle scenes using LEGO® bricks. Have a blast as you create your own fantasy world of superheroes and supervillains, straight out of the pages of DC and Marvel comic books. You might even unleash some of your own superpowers!

Creature Creator Robotics with Coding
In Snapology’s Creature Creator Program, your animal lover will build a variety of robotic creatures that respond to each of their programmed commands. While working with a partner to solve various challenges, your student will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors, how different mechanical components work in their robots, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges.

The Start-Up Academy – Grades 3-8
Kidpreneurs are set up with an action plan framework based on their individual strengths and goals. They will learn how to start their own business from start to finish. They will work individually and collaboratively in a fun, interactive environment. Young entrepreneurs will learn how to create a business plan, market, prepare their item for launch, test their product in front of a business panel and sell. They will create the classroom project individually and learn numerous skills that will enhance their future endeavors.

Taekwondo – Ages 7+
Taekwondo is a form of martial arts with a rich history tracing back to Korea. Classes will help students with self-defense, self-esteem, respect, confidence, and leadership skills. This class will be presented in ASL with ASL interpreters available.

Call for Volunteers
The Enrichment team is looking for Volunteers. Each enrichment class requires a Class Attendant. What are the class attendant responsibilities?
- Attend all class dates with your student and stay for the entire class.
- Arrive 5 minutes early and assist the class instructor with roll call.
- Oversee that students are not disturbing classroom materials.
- Stay after class to see that all students are picked up by an approved guardian (after school classes only).
Class attendants will be refunded a portion of the class fee after the session ends.
The Enrichment team is also looking for future instructors. We are continuing to strive to make enrichment classes more accessible to the entire Madrona Family. Using volunteer or Madrona providers is one of the ways we can do that. Please let the team know if you have an idea for an Enrichment Class you would like to add to the schedule next round.
