Hello and Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!
We are excited to kick the year off with our Annual Back To School BBQ. We will be on the track/playground from 4-6 PM on Thursday, August 31. This is a free event. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, buns and gluten-free buns are provided. We will also have condiments and chips. We ask that you bring drinks for your family and chairs or a blanket to sit on. This is a wonderful time to catch up with returning families and to welcome new families to our community. We ask that you remain on site to supervise your children. If you would like an interpreter, please see the information below. If you are a family with a Middle School student, please plan to stick around after for a short orientation with the middle school staff. Questions? Please reach out to Molly Tobias at MITParentChair@gmail.com or Gina Gale at MITViceChair@gmail.com

Save the Date for the Volunteer Fair and MIT Meeting
Monday, September 18 is our Volunteer Fair and first MIT Meeting. The Volunteer Fair will run from 5:30-6:30 and is a time to learn about many of the volunteer opportunities at Madrona. While we do not require families to volunteer at Madrona, many of our activities and events rely on volunteers. Many of our event chairpeople will be at the fair to answer your questions. A photographer will also be there to take pictures for volunteer badges. The MIT Meeting will start at 6:30 and run for about an hour. Childcare is provided by Middle School Students. There is no charge, but tips are accepted.
Volunteering
Madrona relies on volunteers to help in and out of class. Every volunteer must pass a background check through the Edmonds School District. The form can be found here: https://www.edmonds.wednet.
MIT Scholarship Program
MIT is excited to offer a more accessible scholarship program for our families in need this year. Families who qualify AND SIGN UP FOR the free and reduced lunch program through ESD automatically qualify for our new program. The program will mostly run through Kelly Carlson in the office to keep family info as confidential as possible. The form linked below should be turned in to Kelly Carlson in the office or to your child’s teacher. We appreciate your grace as we work through any challenges while we roll out this program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or feedback. Molly Tobias, MIT Parent Chair at MITParentChair@gmail.com, Remy Gutierrez, MIT Treasurer at MITreasurer@gmail.com or Kelly Carson, Madrona Office Manager at CarlsonK@edmonds.wednet.edu.
